sippy cup rage

Alright.  That's it.  I've had it!  All of our sippy cups leak like crazy...and of course, they all advertise "Leak proof!" or "No more spills!"  Lies, all lies!

We have sippy cups made by Avent, Nuby, and Munchkin, and I can't rely on a single one of them to not get milk/water all over our carpets and everywhere else.

HELP!  I'd really prefer not to by Dr. Brown at $10 a pop, but I'm getting desperate here.  Suggestions?

  1. Um, I just tried to leave a comment and it didn't work... I'll try again..

The best sippy cups I've come across are the ones from Playtex with the silicon insert for the top. They're kind of bulky, but they don't leak unless you don't have the insert pushed in all the way. I also like the super cheap ones from Target and WalMart, I'm not sure what brand it is, but it has a plastic insert to put in the top. It's a clear plastic cup and is only like a dollar.

  2. I am right there with you Lauren! I might suggest the generic Walgreens sippy cups. They look very similar to the Nuby sippy cups but don't cost a fortune and don't leak!! My sister suggested those and I switched right away! Love them! Hope this helps!

  3. We have the playtex with the insert your previous comment suggested. Our last about a year/year and a half before they start leaking and with two toddlers, they take a beating!

  4. I'd agree with the playtex comment as well. The best leak proof sippies ever!

  5. My sister beat me to it. :) My friend told me about the Nuby knock-offs at Walgreens and we loved them when we used them. Sometimes we had to take a paring knife and make the slits a little bit bigger. I think they are 2/$3. Then after those we moved onto the Playtex straw sippies and they don't leak either.

  7. yes, Nuby and any knock-off nuby's are horrible since the entire spout is soft on top and causes leakage with any tiny little hit/drop. we only get playtex now, like a lot of people said - they have in inside part that is annoying to take on/off when putting it in the wash, but i'd rather do that then clean up another mess! i've never even tried avent or munchkin, because we love the playtex - and they are fairly affordable, usually $6-$7 for 2 cups.

  8. Playtex all the way! We have gone through eleven (that I can think of) different types of sippies over the years (sometimes multiples of one kind) and playtex or similar with the little insert plug don't leak!
